About Us
Raymond Gulliver and his wife Valerie founded the company in 1971. After graduating in Forestry at Edinburgh University, he joined W.R. Crow and was responsible for setting up their Woodworm and Dry Rot Treatment Service in 1958. When Crows were taken over by Protim Services, Ray and Val formed Gulliver Timber Treatments.
GTT are long standing members of the Property Care Association (formerly BWPDA). Ray served on its Remedial Treatment Committee and also on the Council of this Association. He was also a founder member of the Guarantee Protection Insurance Ltd. For a one-off fee GPI provide an insured Back-up Guarantee to safeguard members own Guarantees in the unlikely event of their going out of business.
We operate throughout London and the Home Counties and undertake contracts for Local Authorities, Building Societies, Surveyors, Architects and Builders as well as giving personal, individual service to private clients. We pride ourselves in giving the same care and attention to all our customers whether they are first time property owners or large construction companies.
Following Ray’s retirement in 2002, he continued his very active work with the Otford parish Council and Amherst Rotary Club.
Sadly both Ray and Val passed away in 2013 at the ages of 85 and 82, with both of them having led full and happy lives with their three children and five grandchildren.
Gulliver Timber Treatments is still a small family run company, now managed by Ray Gulliver’s son Roger, who is the Director and in common with all our Surveyors, is qualified in the field of damp proofing, structural waterproofing and timber infestation. Indeed, all our surveyors are highly qualified to CSRT and CSSW standard.
